Angela Evelyn Bassett was born in the United States. In the TV and film industry, she's known for her nominations and awards. Bassett was born in New York New York and fostered by an aunt who lived in Winston-Salem North Carolina. Her mother split with her father when she was approximately five. Her younger sister then relocated from the city of St. Petersburg Florida with their mother. Bassett was inspired to become an actress after she saw the stage play Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, starring James Earl Jones. After graduating at Yale University New Haven Connecticut in 1980, with the Bachelor's degree in African American Studies, she was able to obtain the Master's degree (1983) from the Yale School of Drama. She dated Courtney B. Vance, an actress who was also at Yale and they were married in 1997. Qualification: B.A. Graduated from Yale School of Drama School with a master's in African American studies in 1980.
